What Does Endeavour Mean To Us?
The word "Endeavour" is the backbone of the Center’s education, science and life philosophy. Our youth, teacher and citizen outreach programs stress a long term step-by-step approach. Our goal is that individuals and groups reach their highest level of excellence and achieve their highest potential. Failure only comes when one doesn't learn from their experience and mistakes and when one doesn't try again.
The word Endeavour was chosen to honor the spirit of achievement of our first project, NASA Get Away Special #450, which allowed 50 Central Coast youth ages 8 thru 21 to fly their experiment ideas on Space Shuttle Endeavour, 21 June 1993, STS-57 mission. Unique payload design and subsequent proposal to Goddard Space Flight Center initiated the National Space Experiment Module (SEM) Program.
